As part of the Respect. Now. Always. initiative, Universities Australia has commissioned the Social Research Centre, in partnership with leading violence prevention expert Associate Professor Anastasia Powell, to run the National Student Safety Survey in 2021.
The survey will be conducted online and is currently being piloted at Australian National University and Charles Sturt University. The main national survey will be conducted at all universities in September 2021.
The aim of the survey is to collect data on the scale and nature of university students’ experiences of sexual violence. This will help universities to understand the context in which sexual violence occurs and inform universities’ services and responses for student safety and wellbeing into the future.
22 March – 18 April 2021: Pilot survey in the field
September 2021: National survey in the field
